Coaching and Mentoring
“Coaching aims to enhance the performance and learning ability of others…through dynamic interaction – it does not rely on a one-way flow of telling and instruction.”
Max Landsberg
Business coaching helps to clarify priorities, address conflicting agendas, remove obstacles, develop skills and enable improved performance. Our expert coaches work with individuals or teams to help them refine their priorities, stimulate innovation, change working practices and achieve results. They use live workplace issues to deliver work-focused outcomes. Effective coaching supports the achievement of both organisation and individual goals.
“Coaching is about developing a person’s skills and knowledge so that their job performance improves, hopefully leading to the achievement of organisational objectives. It targets high performance and improvement at work.”
The Chartered Institute of Personnel Development
Our professionally qualified executive coaches provide one-to-one coaching to leaders and managers. Executive coaching enables leaders and managers to achieve greater clarity of purpose and accelerates progress. Team coaching improves team dynamics and a sense of shared direction.
We can also help you to build the capabilities of your internal coaches through our coach development programme.
The Institute of Leadership and Management is the UK’s largest awarding body for leadership and management qualifications. The Development Partnership is proud to be an accredited and successful ILM centre and have created hundreds of qualified coaches who work within their own organisation –who are welcome to call on The Development Partnership expertise to overcome future, complex issues; and in the vast majority of cases, for no cost.
Coaching and Mentoring Qualifications
An increasing number of organisations benefit from employees achieving a nationally recognised Coaching and Mentoring qualification. The Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) is the UK’s largest awarding body for leadership and management qualifications and we are proud to be an accredited ILM centre. We can offer many levels of study but believe the Level 5 Certificate in Effective Coaching and Mentoring meets the needs of most organisations. This internationally recognised qualification adds value for employers and provides independent quality assurance about the capabilities of your team members.
The programme can be delivered either in-house or via distance learning. Participants engage in collaborative learning workshops and reflective learning; comprehensive material is provided and additional resources can be accessed through our exclusive online Learning Zone. Our tutors share and discuss lessons from their own work as coaches and from when they operated in management positions – none of our tutors just talk the talk, they have all walked the management walk. All hold professional qualifications in coaching and mentoring.
The Development Partnership have helped thousands of people – employees of organisations and individuals – to go through this process and achieve this award. One last thing, with The Development Partnership it is much more than a paper qualification. Each participants results have to be verified – by our own programme lead and then by two further external verifications – ensuring that participants attainments are of an acceptable standard.

We choose to partner with ILM because we know it:
- Exists to support, develop and inform managers at every stage of their careers;
- Offers a wide selection of flexible work-based leadership and management qualifications;
- Aligns learning with the needs of your business;
- Continually monitors that the qualifications reach the appropriate standard
